Introduction
FrontAccounting is developed by an international team. Senior developer Joe Hunt (@joe) lives in Sweden and Janusz Dobrowolski (@itronics) is in Poland, while other developers come from the USA, Canada, Egypt, Dubai, India, Australia, and elsewhere.
FrontAccounting was originally a fork of a project called OpenAccounting, but the project stalled. In 2005, Hunt saw potential in the software and decided to continue it under the name FrontAccounting. He placed it on SourceForge in 2007, and Dobrowolski joined the project at that time. Ap.Muthu (@apmuthu) lives in India and Singapore and joined the project in 2009 and maintains the OpenVZ port of the bleeding edge FrontAccounting Template besides contributing to the Wiki and the forums extensively.
FrontAccounting is a multi-locational, multi-user, multi-lingual, multi-currency web-based accounting system for the entire Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) chain for small to medium-sized enterprises that is fully Open Source sporting a plethora of plugin extensions, themes, Charts of Accounts and Language UIs.
