No, the po I have. But I have two ways of getting the changes done:

I fix them and add them manually to the standard (empty) po or I fix them and let poedit do the work of extracting them properly. The latter seems to be the easier way. But the routine skips some 60 concepts or so.

In any case you'll get the changed files in order to put them (probably) into the next version. Some examples:

Purchase or Sales Order instead of Order (in German it is Bestellung and Auftrag)
Credit Account is Kreditkonto (bank) or Soll Konto (accounting)
Liabilities is Verbindlichkeiten (p/l) or Passiva (balance sheet)
"To" might mean "bis" but also "auf" and probably a few more.

The translation is ready and working but I am doing fine tuning and checking now...

I'm generally doing stable versions only...

Can somebody please give me the correct parameters for poedit to extract all strings? I ran a dif between my extract and the "original" empty.po and I have about 60 missing. No idea why though.

You are saying it's just Apache that needs to be restarted? Then this is fine for the time being, restarting a production server as a whole is less fun.

You'll get German (finally) after Easter but I need to patch a few concepts in order to make it work . I will create an enhanced empty.po with remarks where the changes are. I will send both directly to you once I'm done.

Hi,

I installed a new language pack and realized that some concepts that I newly translated weren't there. I deleted, from within the application and then directly in the directory, then reinstalled - no change. Cleared the browser cache, changed browsers - still the same. I had to restart the server in order to have everything displayed correctly. Tried it on a second server - same result. There was apc installed, I switched off apc, installed, switched on apc again. Then it worked once. Just emptying the cache didn't help (tried to empty cache, restart Apache).

What really puzzles me is not apc, this is explainable to a certain extent but the 9.10 machine with no cache (at least not to my knowledge).

My environment:
Client Win7 Pro/Ubuntu 9.10
Server 1 Ubuntu 9.10 on vbox, more or less out of the box
Server 2 Ubuntu 9.04 LTS with apc and AMP as by the repositories (mysql 5.051, php 5.2.4, Apache 2.2.8

When I try to print a sales order I get a "security settings" warning, debug shows the following:
Undefined offset: 2 in file: ./includes/current_user.inc at line 140

Just updated to 227, but it was the same with 226 and 224 before. User has admin role (everything checked, all old roles removed, security groups and areas in config removed).

Any help is appreciated

[SOLVED] must have been an old report that was copied over. The new one works

A last one for today because it caused me so much headache:

Please consider leaving out the "guessing" of a customer when entering transactions (order, invoice). In 90% of the cases it is wrong anyway which means I have to click the field, press space or asterisk and can then enter some search criteria. If the field was empty with the focus there I could just enter my search criteria and that's it

I personally think this is not such a good idea. It would be probably better to introduce a customer doc language (as part of the customer / branch / invoice data) and then have doctext plus doctext_ger, doctext_ita etc.

Problem today is that there are countries like Switzerland where you have CHF as currency but German (mostly), Italian and French as language.

I am currently re-entering my invoices for this year and I have two cases:
A Korean customer with EUR as currency (creates a German doc by default) but should get one in English. And a Hungarian (HUF) who gets German docs plus a handmade HU invoice but no English one.

Or you choose the easier approach and skip the doc languages alltogether especially since there is - even with the current two languages - the problem with payment terms, item texts, tax texts etc.

It would be good to extend the possibility of having default entries to other dropdowns e.g. UOM, category etc.
Once it has been entered "wrongly" it is very tiresome to change e.g. "unit" to "piece" each time a new item is entered.

Thx

Since it doesn't happen too often it would be enough not to use the word "order" without sales or purchase before it. It is currently done correctly almost everywhere with the exception of some 10 places I guess. Unfortunately those are on the forms and thus problematic because there is no real context.
The second one is "reference" with a similar issue but less problematic.

I will read the links tonight...
thx

I guess 80 should be sufficient for 99% of the cases. Except for the ones with two lines -> the now famous 1 Pound Ltd. with the addition "Niederlassung Deutschland" ;-)

Thx for the quick reply.
I thought so, I am just a bit careful doing this stuff because I will for sure forget it once I upgrade next time...

I (we) do have quite long customer names and due to legal requirements I can't really abbreviate them. Can I extend the field in the db without problems from 60 to say 100? Or will this cause issues somewhere else?

I see - need to change it in php as well. Won't do that. Any reasonable workaround?

Thx

I do have slight problems with the translation into German:

You often use the word "order" plus some combinations for PO as well as for SO. In German there is a clear distinction because PO = "Bestellung" or "Lieferantenauftrag" and SO = "Auftrag" or "Kundenauftrag". Auftrag (the direct translation of order) always means sales order.
Any idea is appreciated...

Thx

Easter is coming hence two more:

Sales man and payment terms should be pre-defined (as it is) but changable on the order/invoice. This is how it is handled everywhere else and it makes sense.

Thx

Hi,

I just realized that some concepts are missing in empty.po (2.1.1), e.g. some entries in the shortcut menu of the elegant/modern theme (sales order inquiry, branch, customers etc.).

Thx

It would be great to make fully / partially delivered and invoiced sales orders somehow visible in the sales order inquiry screen. Or to make it part of the search selection.
Fully delivered SOs are only of interest if they haven't been invoiced yet. Today I need to print the order status but even there I do not see what has been delivered.

Thx

My standard session.save_path in php.ini ist /tmp which is fine.
I tried to run two versions of FA in the same broser - didn't work and therefore I tried to separate the session paths by adding this to session.inc as suggested elsewhere:

$session_save_path = dirname(__FILE__).'/../tmp2';

The directory exists and has exactly the same owner/permission level as /tmp.
Fact is that my session files irrespective of the setting in session.inc get stored in /tmp.
I also tried to set the path in .htaccess but the system logged me out immediately.

I could run two versions in the same browser before but that apparently changed.
Any ideas?

Hi Janusz,

Thanks for your efforts. And no, it is no problem because we have the word "Klasse" which means (not very suprising) "class" and this is exactly what you have - class 0 FA - account 0300 Buildings,
I was just confused because the demo data show the account group as account class (as a bookkeeper would understand it).
For our demo data we will define something like "VAT Accounts" "Sales Accounts" and so on in order to (as SAP explains the word) "facilitate data entry".

Thank You

Any idea how I would overcome the impossibility to enter a "0" as account group? Unfortunately this is where we (Austrians & Germans) start
(For A: 0 Fixed Assets, 1 Current Assets ... 9 Equity and Others).

Thx

Not inventory locations? That's what the system does and this is correct IMHO

Thx, I see and wait. No urgency.
Just fyi: If the SO was just an internal doc I wouldn't mind. But it's usually send out as order acknowledgement (order confirmation) and of course (as it stands) as quote.

Is there a particular reason why the billing address isn't printed on sales orders / quotes? I know that I can change it but this is one thing more to watch out for after an upgrade.
Plus a big wish: A separate point "Quote" would be great. The only thing that must change is to set "required by" to "valid until". And of course a switch to convert a quote into a sales order.

Thank You

I'l give you my view because I believe I did my homework (being NOT a developer either I probably share your view of things).

I chose FA mainly because of its interface and the simplicity yet elegance of how certain crucial things are handled. People very often overlook the fact that the first impression (which is the UI) is more important than a particular function that may be easily added if the need arises.

I believe that weberp has the deeper functionality but it's sometimes hard to understand and thus hard to set up and hard to teach. The only real issue I have with FA so far is the lack of customer codes.

But of course - the only real test is the one against your requirements. If you did your business requirement analysis you should have a list of your KO criteria as well as one for important/nice to have things. Check them against both systems and if there is no clear preference let your programmers look which code is easier to change and where there is more future potential (in terms of adding functions/modules without changing the core code).

OS fortunately never is a dead end road because the code is yours.

It would be nice though, to do it the other way round - omit the customer/branch  selection and take the template as it is.

On this way the process would be much more like in reality - first the agreement (order, confirmation) and then the recurring invoicing based on that. I for instance sell two items (hosting and support) on a recurring basis but always for a different price. Nonetheless each customer needs a quote and an order confirmation.

Just my 2 cents...
