Topic: Private Messages

You can now send private messages to a user in the punbb.

You see the link for this up right, New messages.

Welcome change indeed! Thanks Joe.

Re: Private Messages

@joe,

I was never able to see where I can use PM feature as described above.
Where is this hidden?

Re: Private Messages

@rafat, Joe's directions are probably out of date now it was written 9 years ago; should read 'to the left' maybe, also you need to be logged in of course.

I ringed in red the PM links

Excellent.. many thanks @poncho1234

Re: Private Messages

Is there an indication that someone has sent you a PM?

Re: Private Messages

I've not seen anything, I've just sent you one; can you see anything?

Also the in/Outbox is not so obvious as well

Seems the PM is an extension of PunBB. So probably WYSIWYG..?

Re: Private Messages

I also dont see anything.. I also you sent you a reply.
I think this needs little improvement..an indication of a PM in ones inbox will be helpful.

Re: Private Messages

Hello Guys,

This is an old topic and doesn't work any more, due to several punbb updates.
You can send a private message by:
Select the user.
In the user account, select Contact Information: PM: Send a private message.

Joe

Re: Private Messages

Hi @joe

I know all are busy and this is least of their worries so forgive me ..but I think this is also important as people of the forum were  sending me PM's that I did not know they existed. so..
How can I easily check if I have a PM? Even when I am logged in?
I dont see that. Sorry..Why Should I PM another user to access my own Inbox? Very simple. A PM should appear under my name when logged in as the (Website Email ...and PM) that appears under other peoples accounts.

Please see attached.. and lets close this for good..

Regards

Re: Private Messages

@rafat, aren't you asking in the wrong place? PunBB (Link at the bottom of the page) are the authors of this forum software not FA; they have a forum too; maybe there's an answer there that solves your request?

What you are doing is the equivalent of asking Microsoft to modify Google Chrome.

Re: Private Messages

@ponocho1234

I don't know what Microsoft and Google has to do with this. I am just asking is this functionality possible or not within our own PunBB forum.... It seems not. Full stop.

Re: Private Messages

Joe,

How about allowing attachments? It would be great to attach screens shots and code as text.

Re: Private Messages

I am a little afraid of that. It is easy to get overloaded with unpleasant stuff.
You should be better of using an external link for that.

Joe

Re: Private Messages

Unless I misunderstood the question.
But Sorry guys.. one can attach files, screenshots and code. The forum is full of such attachments. The only restriction is you need to be a senior member to do that. Its easily achievable by posting more than 50 posts and then automatically one is a senior member and can use attachments.

Re: Private Messages

@rafat
Oh yes, I forgot. You can add attachments as a Senior Member.

Joe

Thanks!

Half way there. smile
