Hi Experts,
We are using front accounting, from some days such abnormal malfunction of our accounting module (front accounting) has astonished our accounting department and bold them out. Kindly help us to figure it out that what can be the possible reasons behind that.
problem: Inventory sales report generating Cost of items in negative figures with 10 times difference for specific items.

Hi, maybe you are using the purchase conversion in Items & Inventory->Supplier Purchasing Data for that item?
Go to that page, select the items you have a problem with, see if a conversion factor is set - default is 1.
So if a conversion factor is set at 10 (supplier sells in packs of 10), purchasing 1 of this item will actually result in purchasing 10 of this item.
So it seems like some one has purchased 10 of this item (thinking they want 10), but due to the convesion factor they have actually purchased 100.
If this is not the case you need to give more details of your issue

Look at how the items were purchased and then sold?
Inventory adjustments?
i cross checked everything, but nothing happened. stuck here:(
it is 10 time more then normal average cost.
kindly let me one more thing. if we void sales invoices, can this be the cause! if it is then how can we revert it.

Otherwise I cannot think of anything else.
look in GL inquries or check in gl_trans table. You might able to see a "Cost Update" entry which causes this abnormal values in average cost. Similarly i faced such an issue. But it was happened like 2.4,2 or earlier version. also specifi your version to trace the issue,

Yes. this issue will be fixed,if you update to new FA. it was Average cost method issue. and manually, you can remove these entries or you void such a cost update entries. thats the fix for this situation. may be @apmuthu or @joe can provide any other simple solution, lets check their words before following my steps.

I want to help but i think the detail information is needed. Why don't you explain how do you get this number? What kind of operations did you do? How do you input the inventory data? As my understanding, this will be related to purchasing operation. You can double check the PO invoice.

that is the question we want to know! why it happened like that. to resolve this issue we voided some invoices related to these items but nothing affected. we checked the PO also. everything is ok, with the Costs.

i did every possible thing with the affected item, deleted entries from database those have negative values but nothing changed.
@zia - you just removed the affected entries. Next you need to update the standard cost for that item. , Than your issues will be fixed.
@barbarian - he also don't know when the entries are created. Because all of them are auto created. This entries created by the update average cost method. This issue was fixed from 2.4 onwards. So you can compare code between the two version and get it

There are two possibilities, either you have any entries left to void or the standard cost was not updated. Check once again from beginning to end and get solution for it
