I want to add the items long description to the Purchase Order Entry and
the item long description can also be edited in the Purchase Order Entry.

The items long description is for internal use only.
If you want something related to the suppliers description/code please use the Item Purchase Pricing, where you can set up the suppliers description for every item you buy in his store.
This description will then be printed on the PO.
