Topic: Compliance with UK VAT Sales Invoice regulations

Has anyone been able to setup FA to produce valid UK VAT invoices?

Quoting from HMRC website
For each different type of item listed on the invoice, you must show:

the unit price or rate, excluding VAT
the quantity of goods or the extent of the services
the rate of VAT that applies to what's being sold
the total amount payable, excluding VAT

The key thing is the rate of VAT for each invoice line.
HMRC have an example of a VAT invoice: HMRC VAT invoice example

The problem I have is that each invoice line does not show the VAT rate and the VAT amount for that line.

Do I need alter the php that generates the report?

I don't think you need to worry if all items have the same VAT rate, and that rate is shown along with the (total) net and VAT amounts somewhere on the page. (I'm just assuming it is. I don't use FA's invoices myself.)

According to section 5.1, you need to show "for each description, the quantity of the goods or the extent of the services, and the rate of VAT and the amount payable, excluding VAT, expressed in any currency". It doesn't actually mention the VAT amount, so I wouldn't bother.

Invoice must show tax point or time of supply date to be a legal invoice. This is  not always the date of invoicing. This is a EU VAT rule and must be the same for all EU countries. Invoices that do not show both dates do not apply for VAT refund.
