is it possible to edit invoice after it is issued?
like having a field remarks in invoice so that after it is issue it is still editable?

Yes, sure. Just press the edit key in the transactions.

Customer Transaction-> no edit for Sales invoice

If there is no edit for the Invoice, then it has been allocated and you will have to send a credit note and a new invoice.

At least in current (2.3.19) version you can edit sales invoices regardless it is paid or not, unless it was already voided.
