Re: HR and Payroll Module

Awaiting module for testing.
Looks great.

Will it be availabe for v2.4 only?

Tried out the project (not working) on google code - looks like the install functions do not match the current v2.3.12 module install specs.

Have created a tarball of the latest google repo at:

To get it, had to install Git on Lenny and update it thus:

apt-get update
apt-get install git git-core
cd /usr/src
wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/git/git_1.7.2.5-3_amd64.deb
dpkg -i git_1.7.2.5-3_amd64.deb
wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/git/git-core_1.7.2.5-3_all.deb
dpkg -i git-core_1.7.2.5-3_all.deb

Google code repo accepts only Git v1.6.6+ and Lenny had v1.5.6+ only.

Then did a clone:

git clone https://code.google.com/p/fa-payroll-module/
tar -czf FA_Payroll_Module_Git_`date +%Y-%m-%d`.tar.gz fa-payroll-module

Thanks, It is working and i am going to developed asset register module.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

In the Google code page for the payroll module, no code commits are there after May 7th 2012. Also no download of any source file is provided. Hence has the development page gone elsewhere?

The 2 clones are also of same vintage.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

@apmuthu
Payroll functionality is quite complex piece of code. Additionally it should be flexible enough to accomodate most local legal requirements. Due complexity of the matter and  lack of time resources the project is stalled now, but if you are interested in continuation, you are welcome to join developers list. We really need your help smile.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

Is Farhaj's demo an extension of the payroll module? Will try to contribute for this module...

Re: HR and Payroll Module

any one want HR/PayRoll module contact me.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

@apmuthu
If you want to be involved in google code payroll project please contact Joshua (sticmann) - he is original project leader.
@Farhaj
It would be good to know your plans about HR/Payroll code announced here on forum. What licensing you plan regarding your works? Do you want to make it open source in some point? Regardless of your decision, I think it is good to keep theese things clear.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

Farjah,

This looks really great. But a question. As FA comes under GPLv3 license, all the extensions to FA fall under the same license and you cannot sell it I guess.

-Mahesh

Re: HR and Payroll Module

Mahesh,

I am not selling it.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

Hi Farhaj,

Is there a way to obtain a copy of the code?  I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

The demo seems to be working good.  Where to get this code from?

Re: HR and Payroll Module

Hi Farhaj

I concur the demo is running fine. Where can we get recent source code on this.

Thanks

Marc

Re: HR and Payroll Module

Re: HR and Payroll Module

Folks, the fact that this fellow, Farhaj, has not indicated where to get the source code is a strong indication that he has no intention of publishing it. He would have gotten more recognition had he played by the GPL3 practices as he gave contact information probably for the purposes of selling his work to people. When somone mentioned the GPL3 policies he quickly said "I'm not selling it" and has given no update since. If I am right on this (Farhaj, prove me wrong by publishing the source), its an example of people abusing the goodwill here. If he doesn't publish the source I will probably begin work on a module myself. It will start with basic elements for a client, get feature requests/specifications from an HR specialist, and work from there. I'll probably also add file generators for payroll bank file formats used in North American banks. (I'm in Canada so I'll be doing work specific for that region but others feel free to add). If there are people out there who would like to help create a legitimate HR modules that is available to all, please chime in and maybe some of us can form a team. I need a little time to study the FrontAccounting specs in any event. I'll use Google work as a starting point.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

@Jlibster - I'd be happy to help in any way that I can.

I'm not needing payroll file formats for banks, as we're simply creating cheques, but need only the ability to enter in wages, deductions, and so forth.  I'm in Canada as well, so your work would be immediately applicable.

Farhaj, I am quite disappointed that you haven't replied, well, ever, and seem to have abandoned working with the group here.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

@kharding Cool. As for the file formats, I'm writing a file generator in PHP (and either python or Java) for a client who needs a simple way to generate files for Direct Deposit without getting locked into any weird app, so figured it may as well be a part of the project. Was already given specs from the banks by the client. Anyway, I've getting required data fields and stuff from HR specialist and Accountant and am hoping to have some data model that is compatible with FrontAccount. Also need to study the specs for plugins but in PHP I'm hoping it won't be too bad.. Any tips, suggestions or feature requests welcome. Kharding, feel free to send me message/e-mail. Sent you private message.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

@Jlibster  you will probably begin work on a module yourself.and when you will develop it please share link to us. It is easy to write a story.

Currently I am working on attendence system. (if anyone willing to work with me on attendence system ,most welcome)

Re: HR and Payroll Module

Hey Farhaj - why not, instead of accusing people of "writing stories," you share the code? I asked you for it months ago to no response.

Re: HR and Payroll Module

There is open source project fa-payroll-module on Google Code aimed at HR module creation under GPL3. Unfortunately it is stalled since some time due to lack of time resources, but I think it is the best start point for eveybody seriously interested in this functionality. If you are really determined to develop HR module for FA please consider joining  the project.

Janusz

Re: HR and Payroll Module

From Farhaj: "I want to Cover My Basic Expenses first.and want more functionality like attendence etv.  I did theme contribution  to FA, you will get it from FA Repo."
