Install Question

XP has working xampp installed (c:\xampp). Fa 2.3.10 in folder  C:\FrontAccounting\
Does FA need to be installed in htdocs folder to work? (c:\xampp\htdocs\FrontAccounting\

upon opening of http:\localhost\FrontAccounting\

error:  object not found

error 404  \localhost\
today date info
Apache/2.2.17 (win32) mod_ssl/2.2.17 openSSL/0.9.8o php/5.3.4 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1

The pc for fa, is not connected to the internet, I am the only person who uses that computer can I skip all passwords for the time being while I get familiar with program?
