@rodw

Using ver 2.3RC3.  I don't quite understand how you get your customers name/address into the the text box, Deliver to: or Memo: (and don't know which you use).  Could you please restate how you do it sort of step by step.

This forum is great having so many helpful and knowledgeable folks.

I sort of figured that could be done, what I am trying to get to is some way to take my customers name/address and get it into the PO so my vendor will do the drop ship.

We do this many times per day so having to retype that info on each order is time consuming/expensive.  I assume there is just no easy way to do it. Will just test some more.

How do tell my vendor in a PO how I would like to have the item shipped.  I don't see any fields to do that.

Also can I tell  my vendor how to do a drop ship directly to my customer from his warehouse?

I didn't know about the alt dwn arrow, but that really is not easier as still additional keystroke and that was the goal to make fewer keystrokes.

If there is no js interface to do it, then that is that  smile   (even though I thought you were magic and could do anything asked for)

Thanks

2.3RC3 with item search turned on.
When I type in a fragment  in the item code box and hit either tab or enter, focus goes to item description displaying the first item in the list that matches the fragment. Works fine, but then if that is not the right item I have to click to get the dropdown to pick the right item.

What would be nice is when tab/enter is hit, the dropdown is displayed directly, saves one keystroke for the data entry person.  Is this hard or a waste of coder time?

It seems that would be a good way to do all selections from searches, but I am pretty lazy and hate to have to move the mouse much.

@joe

Adding a table of price lists is an very nice solution and probably more difficult to do.  I would be happy to just be able to chose which price type to use for an item on a line by line basis.

Yes, Janusz, I think that would do it. I think that many businesses would need this capability as most have variable pricing for items. Along with that change, it would be very nice to have a pre-built report to list out the prices.  That way when, for example, a clearance price list is created, it could be easily checked.

I believe you guys do a fantastic job on this accounting system.  It is extremely difficult app to develop as you have to consider the various laws/customs for various countries, write clean mistake free code, make the screens look nice and get the whole thing usable by non-tech folks.

From what I have read on the forum, most of the posters are truly trying to improve FA. Of course some things are possible and done easily and some either difficult or impossible, but that feedback to you is useful since it keeps you in touch with users and the business community.

Thanks

I tried that, I added a sales_type clearance and set a clearance price for an item.  Created a SO using the new pricing. The only way I could get the price of the clearance item was to change the sales_type to clearance.  That indeed does give the clearance price for the clearance item.  Then when I added a 2nd item it gave me a clearance price but that item is not a clearance item for today, clearance starts tomorrow for it.  For this customer he should get the wholesale price today, I don't see anyway to make the 2nd item price wholesale since if I change the sales type both prices change.  My problem is I can't figure out how to pick the item price by sales type for a particular line item in a SO.  This needs to be line by line (item by item). If I try to edit a line item and change the sales type the other lines are change as well.

Am I not doing something I need to do?

I am also a bit unsure of how pricing is accomplished.
Suppose:
item1 sells retail 10, wholesale 7.5, by full pallet, 6.5
item2 sells retail 150, wholesale 175, by full pallet 170
item3 sells retail 50, and now at clearance price 25
item4 sells retail 10, and clearance 1
......

How is this entered into FA?

Many businesses do pricing like this, some even have special pricing for Christmas, summer, winter and are not simply % markups or downs as margin varies widely for various items.  We sell some items at only 10% markup, but some we can do 40 or even 50%.

I was thinking that there needs to be a way to have multiple prices per item and some how by customer as some customers just get better prices.

I figure that was my problem, what i used:

https://frontaccounting.cvs.sourceforge. … n=1.2.2.61

It is not a big deal at all.  Wanted to be sure after link was put in that a problem was created.

I am using ver 2.3RC3, but I am using sales_order_entry.php from CSV add the new link to create at WO after SO created.
I acted ok before I copied the sales_order_entry.php. I just checked and the 2.3 demo does not use that script as the link to WO is not there after SO created.

What would it take to create an automatic ordering scheme?

On small problem, when I pick an item to add to a sales order and then click add item button, no line item is displayed on the SO, but if I hit update button it is, I thought that hitting add item should list the item in the SO and then let me go to the next line for the next item to enter for the order.

I am using sales_order_entry.php from CSV add the new link to create at WO after SO created.

Thanks

This probably should go into sales, but the thread started here and I am expanding is some.  Similar to creating a wo when an item needs to be manufactured, it seems that when doing a sale of an item with not enough inventory, there should be a link to creating a PO.  Ideally, upon creation of a SO and there is not inventory from lack of items or needing to be mfg, a window should be created from which user could create both PO and WO as meeded.

BTW when I click add item in New Sales Quotation Entry or New Sales Order Entry the new item is not displayed, but is put into db.

Thanks, Janusz,  Is a multiline wo being worked on?  Is it a lot of effort or not too bad to do, but busy on other things?

thanks, joe

As you know when you make one improvement, the user wants at least 3 more.  Is it possible (easily) to make the work order link pop wo entry into a new window like the view sales order does?  The reason is suppose my salesperson sells 5 items and each is a manufactured product.  Dumping them straight into wo entry makes it hard for them to create the workorder as they have probably forgotten what the items were so it is hard to go back and forth to pick up all the wo's need for the items.  Even better would be to generate something like a pick list of items which need a wo created.

Thanks, Janusz but I have not been able to log onto Mantis, does not accept my FA forum login/pw then I tried to create a new user and that failed also, never got an email back.

What can I do?

I tried to add new contact to both a  customer and a vendor.

On the vendor, clicked purchases tab, clicked suppliers link, selected a supplier,  clicked contacts tab, clicked button add new, typed in entries into first name, last name, reference, selected deliver from contact active for, clicked button add and got error msg:
The contact name cannot be empty.

I had a name there and seems contacts_view.inc checks to see if name is empty or not.

Does the same thing when I try to add a contact for a customer.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

thanks, didn't know about clicking again

thanks, will look at the db.inc files

I tried to enter a name for an item.  The stock_master table says the field 'description' is varchar(200) but I could only enter about 50 characters in the form.  Is this a small bug or am I making an error?

Thanks

I have not found where long_description is used.  Is it being used? Can it be displayed on a quotation or sales order entry form along with item code and item description?

Thanks

I just installed 2.3RC3 and it seems that now the item_code may contain - (dash).  Do I understand this right?

Also if I import directly inventory items into database (I am moving from another accounting system), are these the only tables used are loc_stock, item_codes and stock_master?

Thanks

that time frame is just fine with me, not an any hurry.  We are testing 2.3rc from Sep 7.  It is installed on a LTSP Ubuntu server.

I still have some problems with getting customers into FA.  Making names non-unique helps alot but I can't come up with a way to ensure that debtor_ref would be unique.  If we make debtor_ref part of the name, then I don't see what we can append to that to get uniqueness other than just adding some incrementing number.  That would not be of any help for the person inputting data as it would give them no clue to which customer they are looking at.  Moreover when importing from a shopping cart we would have to somehow test to see if the debtor_ref is in FA and the seems it could be messy.

When entering a sale, picking out which customer to use based just on debtor_ref seems a bit hard to do because we might have 25 or more debtor_ref that are the same except for something at the end which keeps them unique.

I am not sure I have explained well what I see at a problem.  May be that I am missing something.

Thanks for all you quick replies.
