Hi All,

   Thanks you for participate in FrontAccounting UTF-8 testing. I appreciate your works and effort. I have submitted the patches that I have done to Joe/Janusz. I hope that they will incorporate into the next release as soon. This will solved the problem arising and causing too many complaint about the encoding issue.

   For those who are existing FrontAccounting users. You are encourage to upgrade to the new release  (hopefully they will released it together with this patches). If you don't want to wait for the next release. You can contact me at tclim@anterp.com. i will help you to convert your existing FrontAccounting package.

   Greeting, I have spend for few days investigate the FrontAccounting "core" source code and trying to convert all COA into UTF-8. I have partially completed but need more testing from you all.   Yes please, I have just installed a new FrontAccounting 2.3.7 to reproduce your issue. If you follow the step above, it should work fine. By the way, I am running Linux CentOS 5 64 bit in my test environment. I think the step that I show you above should be able to use in others Linux distributed (with minor changes in database user name apache). Please try it again. Thanks You.

Hello rodw,

  I try to installed new FrontAccounting v2.3.7 and login as admin. I able to Install Language. Extension, Themes/ Chart of Accounts. The only requirements is you must login as the first company you created with FrontAccounting.

If you worry about the permission issue. you may follow the step below to create a new FA 2.3.7.

1) Create MySQL Database
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   drop database accountdb;
create database accountdb;
use accountdb;

GRANT ALL ON accountdb.* TO 'apache'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'yourpassword' WITH GRANT OPTION;

flush privileges;
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  2) Downloads and install FrontAccounting 2.3.7

  2.1) tar -zxvf frontaccounting-2.3.7.tgz
  2.2) chmod 777 modules
          chmod 777 company
          chmod 777 lang
          chmod 777 tmp

2.3) Open Firefox Browser
         http://www.yourdomain.com/frontaccounting

2.4) Setup it and enter your database, admin informations

2.5) After completed. Change the permission as below:
   
chmod 755 modules
chmod 755 company
chmod 755 lang
chmod 755 tmp
chmod 755 themes
chmod 755 sql
chmod 444 config.php
chmod 444 config_db.php
rm -rf install

NOTE:  If you have more than 1 company setup in your FrontAccounting, please use the permission below:

chmod 644 config.php
chmod 644 config_db.php

These 2 files must be writeable to update the new company information.  For security reason, I use chmod 444.

You should be able to install any languages, extension, themes, charts of account. Hope the step above work for you. I usually use the step above to installed FrontAccounting. Thanks You.

  Since you are running FA Version 2.3.5. The current latest version in FA downloads section only show latest version which is supported by FA Version 2.3.6 and 2.3.7. Please downloads directly from my site. It FREE don't worry.

  I  am the owner of this FA mobile Edition. Please let me know what version of FA you are currently running? I have submitted 2 version of FA to this forums which covers:

  1) FA Mobile Edition for - V2.3.4 / 2.3.5
  2) FA Mobile Edition for - V2.3.6 / 2.3.7

  But when I try to downloads from Downloads page, https://frontaccounting.com/wbt/pages/d … se-2.3.php. It only have 1 files fa_mobile_236_237.zip. These mean that you are only allowed to use it in newest version of FA. Maybe Joe need to somehow let the visitors to downloads another previous version for FA Mobile Edition V 2.3.4 / 2.3.5.

Please let me know your server information and also FA version. Thanks You.

   For those who are using AntERP.com Mobile Edition. Please downloads a new version with bugfix from:

Changelog by tclim (13 Oct 2011)
- Bugfix for querying company that have been deleted. The company index was wrongly query from company.php Thanks to Roman K reporting this issued.

- Upgrading the latest Jquery Mobile Alpha RC1 libraries. This should be the latest library at the moment of the released.

  Installation Guide have been included in the documents.

  1) Please BACKUP before you deploy it.
  2) No databases changes.
  3) Just overwrite the existing FA Mobile Edition files. Don't worry, it does not affect your existing FrontAccounting. Only overwrite the FA Mobile Edition.

  The patches have just send to FrontAccounting, it may take some time to upload into Repository. For quick access, please download from above link.

  I assume that your tracking code as below:

But you cannot copy and paste into the footer.inc directly, it should be something like below:

    You must place the echo '   javascript here and end with '; Please try it.

  I agree that FrontAccounting should change the current encoding characters to fully support multi-language by replacing all the 'iso-8859-1', 'iso-8859-2' or whatever to 'UTF-8'.

The impact was not only in MySQL but also in all PHP files that encoded with 'iso-8859-1' , 'iso-8859-2' etc.  The Chart of Accounts - COA, Language Packs, Themes available in FA repository.

If you are using Linux Desktop or Server. Simple search all the text using the command below:

  grep -R -B3 -A4 "'iso-8859-1" /home/tclim/workspace/acct237

  grep -R -B3 -A4 "'iso-8859-2" /home/tclim/workspace/acct237

There are hardcoded 'iso-8859-1', 'iso-8859-2' everywhere.

Please also download the dejavu.zip from FrontAccounting and patches into reporting/fonts folder to fully support UTF-8 for PDF viewer. Hence, FA now become a solid Online Accounting Software. This is just my 2 cents.  Hope it help. Thanks You.
