Thanks Joe

I'm generally a good wiki user, and I did look at the Purchase section of it before asking my question, and I didn't find my answer (maybe I missed it, then I'm really sorry).

The part about using an item was also well understood. I just didn't know that doing additional lines in the Invoice with tax  GL accounts would filled the tax specific lines.
In fact that was my question, and the answer to it was  very simply "yes". That was the not-understood part.

Thanks for the reminding about Quick Entries,

Gaston

Joe, or Janusz,

Any comments about the last post ?

Hello Chaitanya

Yes I can apply an amount for taxes to the right GL account, but I don<t think it will then be displayed in the invoice taxes lines, would they ?

The idea is to be able to simplify the process when it starts with the reception of the reception item and its invoice. That's why I'm asking if possible to also go this way ?

When you say "not successfull", what do you mean exactly ?

Gaston

If I go through the complete process:
Purchase Order Entry
Outstanding Purchase Orders Maintenance
Supplier Invoices

then I have the taxes charged and everything is perfect.

Quite often, we don't go through the whole process. We order something by phone, receive the Supplier invoice and just pay it. In this case, usually I will go directly to "Supplier Invoices" and just capture the invoice. When doing that, I don't get the taxes, and I need the taxes.

Am I doing something wrong (or missed something) ?

Thanks,

Gaston

I'm very slow to understand, so write slowly...

Seriously, let's start over and clarify what you want to do. You want to sell a service (Direct invoice), and charge this to an expense account (not a revenue account) ?

Gaston

Done with fr_FR

What do I do with the File ?

Gaston

It will be a pleasure to do fr_FR

You can define (In Company Setup) that you want to use two dimensions (Use Dimensions: 2),

One can be used for projects and the other for your company branches.

We are currently using quickbooks, which we have to move away from in order to improve the integration with other software which is integral to the way we handle sales. I am by no means a fan of quick books but it is easy to deal with bank deposits - the customer payments are posted to an account - undeposited funds - then there is a simple interface for making up the actual deposit that goes into the bank.

Could you try one more time to explain what you do with Quickbooks. If you cannot do it with FA, it's illegal ... ;-))

What is preventing you from creating in FA the account "Undeposit funds" (an asset account), acknowledge in it all customer payments,  then when ready, transfer from "Undeposit account" one global amount to the bank account ?

Thanks Joe, but what is the report you refer to ? That said, is there a specific reason why emailing ia not offered in "Customer Transaction Inquiry" ?

Gaston

When I produce a direct Invoice, I can do many things with it: seeing it, printing it, emailing it.

When I update this same direct invoice, I don't have the possibility to email it. Is it normal ?
If it is normal, how can I resend an invoice by email to someone ?

Thanks

You could start by reading thisTax  page in the wiki and come back with more questions later:

At first I thought it was that simple...

There is many tables, some with auto-increment (debtor_trans_details, etc), some are indirectly referred by sys_types (debtor_trans). For every type of transaction, the next reference is kept there.

If you want an idea, you can use PHPMyadmin to look at it, or just look inside the a backup file to get another view.

You can also take a look at the Entity Relationship (ER) Diagram for FrontAccounting 2.2 , https://frontaccounting.com/wbt/pages/download/download-documentations.php

At first I thought it was simple...Powerfull softwares are often complex.

Tom

Using the sqltrail for myself, I can say that what is reported is incorrect.

I had a lot of  errors incorrectly reported, many  being the same as the ones reported in this thread.

An explanation on the process behing the report would be very usefull.

As you, I think that "show_sql"  would be more usefull.

My thinking...

I like the idea of using modules as object to do a specific task.

If the code of a module is simply copied in another module and adapted to do more or something else, it could be a nightmare for those who have to maintain the code, having then many places to change code because a part a the functionality is spread in many places.

Related to jscript, cURL FAQ states that

3.14 Does curl support Javascript or PAC (automated proxy config)?
Many web pages do magic stuff using embedded Javascript. Curl and libcurl
have no built-in support for that, so it will be treated just like any other
contents.

.pac files are a netscape invention and are sometimes used by organizations
to allow them to differentiate which proxies to use. The .pac contents is
just a Javascript program that gets invoked by the browser and that returns
the name of the proxy to connect to. Since curl doesn't support Javascript,
it can't support .pac proxy configuration either.

Some workarounds usually suggested to overcome this Javascript dependency:
- Depending on the Javascript complexity, write up a script that
translates it to another language and execute that.
- Read the Javascript code and rewrite the same logic in another language.
- Implement a Javascript interpreter, people have successfully used the
Mozilla Javascript engine in the past.
- Ask your admins to stop this, for a static proxy setup or similar.

That being said, I don't know what is the best way of reusing the code without copying it. cURL is certainly one of these ways.

My opinion: why don't we let it like it is now: there is one selected fiscal year.

But, if someone makes a transaction on a not closed fiscal year, but not on the selected fiscal year, then a warning message would ask the person to confirm that he really wants to make a transaction in that opened but not selected fiscal year.

Then there would be no accidental entry and we would have the flexibility.

Gaston

It's a part of it. The other part would be:

reporting/rep107.php

Gaston

There is a part of your answer in the FAQ:

Go to Setup tab, Company Setup, and check that 'Search Customer/Supplier/Item list' are unmarked.
If these lists are marked, then you have enabled search for Customers/Suppliers/Items.
This might be a good idea if you have many records. You can then start a search by pressing a space
in the list, or use the edit box in front of the list if such one is available. Now enter fragment of
Customer/Supplier name or Item id, category or description and press tab. The list will now be
populated with relevant records. If you enter a *, all records will be shown.

In short, you can check the "Search Item List" in the company setting and then you will be in better position to select the right item when having "tons" of it.

That being said, a drop down box with categories would also be a great addition.

Gaston

There is many reports up there.

What is the specific name of the invoice report ?

Gaston

Good. Thanks for the info Janusz.

And what is the name and the location of the default Invoice report ?

Ok I have found the problem when I executed:

SELECT * FROM 1_chart_class WHERE !inactive AND ctype > 3 OR ctype=0 ORDER BY cid

Looking at 1_chart_class, I noticed that all rows where with ctype = 1

That explains why the report was always empty...

This probably comes from an initial bd correction I made earlier !

Anyway, it's now ok. Sorry for bothering you with that.
