Hi All,

I need some help configuring frontaccounting for a specific purpose, if it is indeed possible.

If what I am asking is not possible, I would welcome suggestions for a more alternative OSS product, as long as that is OK to say....

Basically, I have a very small business renting rooms to guests.

It is possible for guests to order services, such as an item of food or drink, or a service such as laundry.

What I am trying to setup, is a very basic systems in which the receptionist can enter in guests along with their name, and perhaps other arbitrary details such as passport number, room number or such.

Additionally, anytime a guest make a purchase, it would be recorded to the guest account.

This is all that I want the reception to be able to do...not have access to anything else, just to book in purchases.

I then want the manager to be able to generate reports. For example, for a specific guest to see what purchases that guest made. Or to generate an income statement for a given month or time period. Or to see how much a particular food item has been ordered.

Additionally, each record of a purchase must be able to have an ID number or such, which corresponds to an actual paperslip/bill.

Guests have a tab, so by default purchases must show as unpaid, unless paid with a credit card where it will be shown as paid. There is no requirement to store credit card numbers or such.

I believe my needs are closer to an accounting system than a reservations system, which is why I am looking at frontaccounting.

My problem is that I need to simply it as much as possible.

I understand what I want to do is possible perhaps with roles, but from what I have been reading...I have no idea how to go about that.

Is it possible to do as I have described, and importantly to set it up so a receptionist only has access to a very simple interface to enter this information?

I really appreciate any assistance or a point in the right direction. Thankyou very much in advance.

Dave
