I recommend the FrontAccounting SimpleAPI module. There are some functions that are not yet implemented, but its very easily extended, has unit tests, and the author is very responsive to pull requests.

I need to interface FA via a REST API ? I think they are a few modules available to do so.
What is their current status, or which one to use ?
