If you are in Windows, Use a text editor that is UNIX aware and UTF-8 aware like NotePad++ and set the text editor mode to UTF-8 without BOM. You will now be able to type in valid replacements for "?" characters.

Finally I did an extra module for add all the needed fileds... thinking to release it open source, but still need some improvment before can be ready for opening it

Hi there,
is it a big job to add an extra, searchable detail field to the Inventory module? I am somewhat versed in PHP, although probably would need to brush up a bit.
