Hello,
We will prepare for this in 2.1 Beta, so that an inactive field will be available on all master tables, debtor_master, (branch already has one), items, suppliers, accounts, just to mention a few that can have a huge amount of records.
Then we can fix the things during some 2.1.X release.

Good idea. This should be done also for other non-removable database entities like customers/suppliers, non-actual items etc

In the future would be better to have the ability to make inventory inactive, since if they have been used on transactions already you can't delete them, but by making them inactive they don't bog down or show up on lists and reports.
