Yes, but you can use the 'purchased' and remember to use another account for inventory that the normal ones (there are also inventory account for machines, buildings etc.).

But it is showing only three options in item type; manufactured, purchased and service.

You can either use the Items and Inventory tab for this. Just set the Item so be of type 'No Sales'.
Or, as you suggest yourselves, the GL.

Can any body guide me that how can we manage inventory assets. Simply tell me that if we purchase assets for a company, so will we use purchase module for it or post these entries by GL.
