I need to get front accounting to do these things. . .

Set locations for Individual consumable pieces/hardware
Set inventory for Individual consumable pieces/hardware
Set reorder quantities for individual consumable pieces/hardware

Post deduction to automatically individual consumable pieces/hardware when manufacturing a part

Set location for manufactured part
Set Inventory for manufactured part
Set build more quantities for manufactured part

Also need to be able to query via piece, hardware, part, tool end product and be given the location.

Trying to increase the char because the coded locations have 8 char in them. The physical location of where we store includes facility, storage device, drawer or shelf, and compartment or bin. That totals 8 char.

at this time the location CODE is defined as varchar(5) in the database table, therefore you can only input 5 characters.

But most of the time you are anyway going to use the LOCATION NAME and not the CODE. Why are you trying to increase the defined characters?
