How can this be resolved?
EDIT: As I understand it, the problem is that the database is too large and there are too many rows. Indeed, I have been actively using FrontAccounting since 2009. The database size is over 200 MB. I would like to delete some older financial years, but for some reason this is not possible. I also don’t get any error messages, even when debug mode is enabled.
Is it somehow possible to delete old entries directly via phpMyAdmin using an SQL command? I would gladly remove several years and make the database smaller.
I've been having issues with my hosting company so I finally installed FrontAccounting locally.
I'm trying to backup and resotre the data from my hosting company database to my local instance.
I know it's not as easy as using the back/restore function in FrontAccount and making a backup on the hosting database and then restoring to my location instance. (as I tried that many times in the past)
So is there a guide or does someone have the steps to do this.

created a new database called frontaccounting
then created a new user
File Station app
copy FA files to web/frontaccounting
set http read/write permission for frontaccounting folder, including sub-folders
Issues encountered:
In the beginning I was setting things up with Apache HTTP Server 2.4 service
when running the browser with the address IP/frontaccounting the page wouldn't load giving some page errors.
Once I switched the back-end server to Nginx, things just started working.

1. includes/db/connect_db_mysqli.inc
I did not have mysqli setup correctly in the php.ini
It took a while to find.... I think it would be helpful to put a
try / catch around the mysql_connect call..

2. I ran into the gettext code isssue where the language is set to C
3. when I installed the restapi - the whole process got a whole lot harder....
The system was not returning data at all.....
It turns out that the function get_magic_quotes_gpc doesn't exist in php 8.....
The version of the api has Slim code that you have has that in Slim/Http/Request.php
and also its in session-util.inc
Definitely there should be some code like...
if (function_exists("get_magic_quotes_gpc"))
.......
The disturbing thing is that the code dies without any kind of logging....... when it hits get_magic_quotes_gpc.
4. an observation....
it seems like the frontaccount software should ship with the restapi module by default....
its difficult to figure out the restapi version stuff... it would make more sense if it just was in one tar ball...
I suspect fabridge should also be that.... But the obvservation is just my two cents - I'm sure there's
a rational for it to be broken up as it is.

Instruction to Upgrade from 2.3.24 to 2.4.4 on new server
-------------------------------------------------------------
1. First install a new copy of FA 2.3.26
2. Get backup from 2.3.24
3. Import it to the database to freshly installed FA 2.3.26
4. Now, goto the exports page and export it from FA2.3.26
5. Download a fresh stable FA 2.4.4 and install it without demo data.
6. Goto backup and restore, and import the file you exported from Fa 2.3.26
7. Now goto upgrade and upgrade it.
It will upgrade your database to newer version.
This procedure i followed it for FA 2.4.1 upgrade from 2.3.19 So it might work If you have problem with 2.4.4.than go with 2.4.1 and than again one more upgrade to 2.4.4

That is how my old installation ran but running FA 2.4.18 i sometimes see the Item Code and Description field rapidly toggle between the previous value and one I just typed. It is almost like each field has an onChange action and they are battling it out
I have found that if I type in Item Code and instead of enter or tab, if I switch to a different browser tab and go back then it is correct
Anyone seen anything like this?
I am using Brave Browser... Saying that suggests to me I should try a different browser...

Initially a restricted user can be provided whilst the admin user can be retained by the Hosting provider's support personnel.
The details of this form can go to a database where it can be vetted and then taken into a CRM when it becomes a potential client.
