Topic: Item Search-Adding New Search Criteria

Good Morning,

I have a lot of stock items in my inventory( about 20 000). All items are in departments or categories so I wanted to have a combobox first to select department so it filters only to leave items in that inventory department then in the seach field it only searches from the items in the filter department in the combobox .How do I add the combobox and the coding to achieve this or it has already been done.

Please help me.

This is quite interesting one. I have done similar thing for a FA user. He has more than 1,00,000 items. He brought to with three filtering to narrow down the results to get it. You need to enable search items list from company setup and customize the pop-up search file to capable of filters

Search by Ajax should be okay.

Use the setting in Setup => Company Setup => Search Item List => tick the checkbox. Now Ajax suggestions will come in when you start typing in the Item name / code.
